What is Country Music?
- originated in the rural regions of the Southern United States in the 1920's. It is a mix of ballads and dance tunes played characteristically on the fiddle, guitar, steel guitar, drums, and keyboard.
What is Pop Music?
First Country artist:
- originated in its modern form in the 1950's.
- Pop music comes from the word popular & is more of a watered down version of rock n' roll with more rhythm and harmony and an emphasis on romantic love.
Jimmie Rodgers was one of the very first country artists.
He is known as the "father of country music."
