Dust Strikes AGAIN! ! ! ! !

Black Blizzard was the Dust Bowl's name

Oklahoma was hit by the Storm

Walking hard because you couldn't see

Leaving town was hard to do

Texas town hit by the Dust

DustBowl FACTS

- the dust bowl lasted 9 long miserable years.

- it was a period of severe dust storms that greatly damaged the ecology and agriculture of the US

-During the drought, the loose soil turned to dust that the prevailing winds blew away in clouds that sometimes blackened the sky.

-

During the 1930's many people migrated north or away from the DB

Unfortunatly, migrant workers had a hard time leaving home

Sadly, 9 long rainless years went by

The farmers who lived in the regions hit by the DB lost a lot of money

We live with the dust, eat it, sleep with it, watch it strip us of possessions and the hope of possessions. It is becoming Real."

Avis D. Carlson

The GREAT DEPRESSION

The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression in the decade preceding World War II. The timing of the Great Depression varied across nations, but in most countries it started in 1930 and lasted until the late 1930s or middle 1940s.[1] It was the longest, deepest, and most widespread depression of the 20th century.[2]

In the 21st century, the Great Depression is commonly used as an example of how far the world's economy can decline.[2] The depression originated in the U.S., after the fall in stock prices that began around September 4, 1929, and became worldwide news with the stock market crash of October 29, 1929 (known as Black Tuesday).
