AIMS Alternatives for Innovative Math Study
Comenius - eTwinning project 2013-2015
The Twinspace
forums is used to
discuss important
issues both among
students...
Evaluation of the project
...and teachers, exchange ideas and resources (such as ICT tools, tutorials) and to solve possible problems.
1. INITIAL PHASE:
3.FINAL PHASE
2. MIDDLE PHASE
- to assess the evolution of the project
- Assess regarding the students interest in Maths, MI type(s), Maths and English level, expectations from the project.
- Evaluation for students on: their active participation, communication using ICT with partners in other schools, level of commitment and motivation
- Tools:MI questionnaire, grades in English and Maths
- Tools: questionnaire, students’ grades, class observations
- Teachers’evaluation checked:
personal commitment, motivation, use of ICT and English,
cooperation/communication with the other teams, accomplishing of the tasks and reaching the goals
For teachers:
- personal commitment,
- level of motivation,
- use of communication tools, accomplishment of tasks,
- weak points of the project.

We use the Twinspace chat and Flashmeeting videoconferences to have real-time conversations.
during the entire project in each school, at students’ and teachers’ level
The activities are very diverse,
from manipulating concrete
objects to using various ICT tools. Some of the activities take place
in all or part of the schools.
Pupils presented themselves, the schools and their towns in the Twinspace, using various tools, exchanging ideas on their preferences, the way Maths is taught in their schools.
Video Maker, Slideshow Creator
They wrote about themselves, their hobbies and interests, and get to know each other in the Pupils Corner.
Some examples of activities for different types of intelligence:
- The Polish and Dutch teams collect the written materials and organize them in the pedagogical report
• The Italian team is in charge with the video production and with editing the report
•The Greek school creates and manages the blog,
with the French school creates materials for the board game
- Spanish school is responsible for the video creating
• The Romanian school is the project coordinator, responsible for maintaining regular communication, sharing and checking the materials
The distribution of tasks
is based on the partners’
previous ICT expertise
and their own choices.
How do we communicate with our partners ?

- to increase pupils' self-esteem
- to understand the cultural and historical role of mathematics
- to adapt teaching methods to different types of intelligence by using student-centered approaches
- to use cooperative learning methods to develop students' collaborative skills
- to empower students' autonomy and their independent learning skills
- to promote mutual respect, tolerance and understanding for students with different abilities
- to facilitate dialogue and equal opportunities, even for students with poor results
- to use ICT for modelling real-life situations and making mathematical content relevant for students
- to develop students' ability to use mathematics for understanding and solving real-world problems

WHO?
The seven
partner schools - one for each MI
The participating
teachers use the multiple intelligences theory to discover and develop each student’s particular skills, needs and interests, differentiate and adapt the teaching methods to them.
MindMeister
for creating your own mind maps
Students actively create their own learning materials for each type of multiple intelligences and use motivating ICT tools.
AIMS
The project aims at increasing students’ motivation and interest for the study of Math, with special focus on low-achievers.
