Florida Hospital Apopka (Information taken from a 2013 needs assessment)

As a result of the efforts of the Apopka campus Community Health Needs Assessment Committee, the following two areas were selected as priorities for the 2013 needs assessment year:

1. Obesity –There is scientific evidence indicating that obesity is linked to metabolic disorders and other chronic diseases. As such, efforts to reduce, control, and prevent obesity have great potential to positively impact other chronic conditions and lifestyle factors that have been prioritized.

2. Chronic Disease Management –This priority will focus on diabetes and heart disease, two of the most chronic conditions, and cancer, the leading cause of death in the country. Chronic disease management strategies include early screening, health education efforts on exercise and nutrition, and the promotion of personal accountability in managing symptoms and commodities.
