- originally my grandpa's family is from Cheeem Kalan(segment of a town, city or village), Punjab, India
- My great-grandpa, Ujager Singh Cheema first immigrated to Yuba City, CA in 1950.
- Slowly, he sponsored my grandpa, who came in 1968

What made them want to come here?
- My grandpa's happiest or most satisfying time in his life was the first time he came to America.
- He remembers the television and color television being popular in the 1950s.
- He remembers the computer being first introduced in the late 1980s to 1990s,even though he cannot use one
- He remembers the first microwaves being invented
- He remembers the first cell phones
- My grandparents chose to settle in Yuba City, CA because of the striving agriculture economy of the city. They were farmers in India, so they knew the trade.

What has been the biggest challenge of your life?
His earliest memory was playing outside with his friends in Punjab, India.
The biggest challenge for him was to see his father on his death bed and struggling to achieve the American dream.

Family recipe: Peach Cobbler
- One of the popular trends of the 1930s India was to save money because the british had stopped imports from India devastating the economy. This became a lifetime habit after witnessing the great depression.
- The same usual peach cobbler recipe, however my family uses fresh peaches from our peach orchard in Yuba City.
