  • Discussed running away from their horrible home life but needed money
  • Both said, "They would do anything even kill someone to get what they wanted"

Who is the real victim?

  • Girls told police that they had to kill Ms. Brackett because that was the only way to get car
  • Also, that it was just fun
  • Later both girls talked about abuse and how it could have attributed to murder
  • Released in 92' (Cindy for good behavior) and 95' (Shirley- chaotic life after prison)
  • Girls tried to steal the car but it would not start
  • Ran to the nearest highway and hitchhiked
  • Shirley wrote in her journal, "Today, Cindy and I ran away and killed an old lady. It was lots of fun."
