French Revolution

Haitian Revolution

Part 1:

1. People become hopeful for change by hearing about the French Declaration of Rights of Man(#3 on anatomy)

2. People are becoming hostile, many slave revolts are occurring in Haiti(#5 on anatomy)

3. French promise freedom if revolutionaries fight royalists.(#9 on anatomy)

4. British enemies try to seize Haiti(#9)

Part 2:

1. Both attempt to avoid a revolution, in Haiti they don't release certain documents, in France they bring guillotines to scare people

2. Social classes near each other become very hostile, in Haiti it is the slaves and the plantation owners, in France it is the 3 estates.

Part 1;

1. Most foods are taxed highly because the country is broke from war.(#10)

Part2:

1. The government demands increased, which lead to the cause of equality from new documents

2. The Jacolbins were contradicted during the reign of terror

3. Louis the 16th emerges and makes changes and power invested in him increases. The government does not like him

4. With Louis the 16th executed, power was regained by moderate groups, but no one had absolute power

Part 1: Governments are unable to gain enough support to save them. This happens in Venezuela when Bolívar rounds up supporters to overthrow leaders, it happened in Haiti when Toussaint gains revolutionary support, it also happens in France when the third estate breaks away from the estates general.

Part 2: A period of terror occurs, it happens in Venezuela when the Junta dictators pass the most radical legislation, it happens in Haiti when Napoleon sends in troops to capture Toussaint, it also occurs in France when guillotines are brought out to suppress revolutions.

1. Government systems attempt to suppress revolutions by, in Haiti they try to not let people know about France’s Declaration of the Rights of man. And in Venezuela by restricting trade. (#2)

2. Revolutionaries gain power, in Haiti by Toussaint banding together with black slaves, in Venezuela by Bolívar rallying support for a revolution.(#3)

3. A strong man emerges, In Haiti it is Toussaint, In Venezuela it is Bolívar. (#7)

4. Independence is proclaimed fro both Haiti and Venezuela.

Venezuela- France

Part 1:

1. People begin to think of themselves as part of a social class, in France this is when the 3 estates are established, in Venezuela it is when the Spanish are better-off than the natives. (#4)

2. People are feeling restricted by the government, in Venezuela people are being excluded from the political system, in France Protestantism is banned from the country.(#2)
