While America was in the the Great Depression and hope is put into the new president, Roosevelt, the EU is being plunged into anarchy. during 1933-1945 the world also took a turn for the worst as a whole by plunging into the second World War in 1939. The Holocaust was the source of major uproar within the allied countries that attempted to put an end to Hitlers tyranny. In 1945 the liberation of Auschwitz occurred followed by the liberation of many death camps and the capture of many war criminals.

One account included two twins being sewn back to back in order to create Siamese twins. Various flood vessels, organs, and bones were fused together. The twins screamed in agony till gangrene sat in and they were dead within 3 days.

Sex change operations were also performed among male/female twins. His goal was to see if the twins would react differently to being the opposite sex. This type of operation would often send the children's bodies into shock and death would be imminent.

Introduction

Significance

The Holocaust was a dreadful and dark area in history. The things that went on in the camps were heart wrenching. When those poor tortured people were sick and turned to doctors for help, it was often a path to death paved by monsters like Josef Mengele. He was a high ranking physician at Auschwitz that ran experiments on kids, and most pleasingly twins, that entered the camps for his own "research". From Josef Mengele, society can learn that all life has value, and exploration can be beneficial but not at the cost of life.

Josef Mengele was known as the angel of death because of his brutality and murderous hands. Mengele is best known for the procedures performed on twins, but few know that it wasn't till later than the twins came into play. Before hand, he was still performing brutal procedures, but it was often on children. He was described as cold and never having a hair out of place. He was in charge of things like the gas chamber, crematoria, and pressure chambers. His work was mainly aimed towards kids because they weren't used in the camps and were often killed on spot. All of this was in attempt to make his perfect master race.

When Ellie is first arriving at Auschwitz, the guard tells him he is 18. This is because they needed workers, and young children were killed on spot. If Ellie were to protest the guard, he would have met the greusom fate of being thrown into the flames of the crematoria because he was a child, or he would have been taken by Mengele and had been one of his experiments. Death would have been in his future.

I believe that guard didn't want to see him die.
