When Jennings was 8, his mother couldn't take care of him any longer so she sent him to an orphanage. Then, he was sent to his first foster home at the Carpenters'. The Carpenters beat him, so he was sent back to the orphanage. Later, he was reunited with his family just to be sent back to another orphanage shortly. Then, he runs away from one of the orphanages and goes to the zoo for a couple days. He is found and sent off to a foster family. They treat him very nice but he is soon taken away and sent back to his mother. His mother sends him to a school and he makes friends with the bus driver who takes him to school everyday. His mother shortly falls down the stairs and is put into the hospital. Jennings is then put into an orphanage. "I dream of belonging to somebody. You know, having them tuck me in bed and kiss me goodnight. It's dumb, I know, but i dream about it sometimes."
This is my favorite quote because it shows no matter how silly the dream may seem, you should never stop dreaming it.
Jennings is famous for surviving as a foster child when nobody was there to help him.

A life lesson I learned from Jennnings is to never lose hope because there is always something unexpected waiting around the corner.
My final fact is that Jennings had a stuffed dog that was his best friend throughout his childhood. This dog was the only thing that made him happy when he felt most alone.
