Ever wonder...
what makes poetry
poetry?
Poetry can be anything from the music you listen to...to graffiti written on walls
poetry...is simply a creative way to express your feelings about something
Poetry isn't all about Shakespeare and words you don't understand...
it can be very short...
or very...

Sometimes it can even rhyme
and other times not...
While alliteration and metaphor are good things to know...
they do not define poetry because
the great thing about poetry is...
universal idea that defines it
- Wordsworth defined poetry as "the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings."
- Emily Dickinson said, "If I read a book and it makes my body so cold no fire ever can warm me, I know that is poetry."
- Dylan Thomas defined poetry this way: "Poetry is what makes me laugh or cry or yawn, what makes my toenails twinkle, what makes me want to do this or that or nothing."
so there is really no need to define poetry
poetry means many different things to different people
"Don't do this. Don't shackle poetry with your definitions. Poetry is not a frail and cerebral old woman, you know. Poetry is stronger than you think. Poetry is imagination and will break chains (unkown author)."
so now you know a little more...
about what makes poetry...
