Animal and Plant adaptations
Gophers and Prairie Dogs do not become very large in size which allows them to hide from predators in tall grasses.
Buffalo grass grows up to seven feet tall so when small animals eat it it is not all able to be eaten.
Larger animals such as wolves and coyotes have thick coats of fur to keep them warm during extreme winters.
In North America there are bison and proghorn.Rodents include gophers and prairie dogs. Carnivores include wolves,coyotes,foxes, and badgers.

The Grasslands have very cold winters and hot summers.In the summer the temperature can get well over 100 degrees.And winters can go down to less than 40 degrees.

In grasslands you can find Buffalo Grass which can grow up to seven feet tall.
The average temperature of the Grasslands is about 40 to 60 degrees.
