Use pictures, photos, figures, infographics, graphs, or tables to communicate the information

  • Don’t add images that are a distraction or purely decoration
  • Label these visual images adequately

Use color – contrasting colors visually lure the eye

  • Don’t use too many different colors – stick to a theme

  • Avoid jargon and acronyms

Text size

  • Title should be readable from 10 feet away
  • Other text should be readable from 3-5 feet away
  • TIP – if you print your poster on a standard 8.5” X 11” sheet of paper, you should be able to comfortably read all the text, including figures
