Brewing and Sale of Alcohol
- When the British and other foreigners came to Africa, they did away with the traditional culture of alcohol consumption. For example, traditional culture allowed consumption of alcohol only on special occaisons.
- Once colonizers took over, they did away with tradition and imposed their own "drinking culture".
Forced Modernization
- The international community strongly encouraged the people of Africa to "modernize" themselves and to forget their tribal heritage.
- Therefore making them take on western culture.
Degradation of the Environment
- Lack of education to provide proper methods of agriculture.
- Due to the loss of cultural identity, Africans have lost the passion that they have for their crops and other environmental concerns.
Discrimination Against Women
- Denied power
- Denied wealth
- Can't even have control over their own bodies (female genital mutilation)
