Egg Osmosis (hypotonic solution vs. a hypertonic solution)

Megan, Jazmin Nana, Jeneen and Devonte

How can we examine the effects of a hypertonic solution?

You're maybe thinking ..well we're made out of 50-70 billion cells if we drink this we know what happens to cells in a hypotonic solution but we dont know that drinking salt water that can very dangerous it could cause dehydration, vomtiting, naussa, and even hallucinations is just a few symtoms of drinking large amounts of salt water.

Expose the semi-pemeable inner membrance

Observing omosis usging a egg shell

Hypotonic solution a lower concentration solutes (dissolved substances)

Dissolve the otter hard shell of the egg by placing the egg into some vinger, vinger has a chemicle that thats called acetic acid the egg shell has calcium carbonate and these two mix the calcium carbonate will break down carbin dixoide, water, calcuim which dissolved the shell of the egg within three days you shouid have a semi-pemeable membrance.

Hypertonic solution has a higher concetration of solutes (salt water)

Some eggs like chicken eggs are surrounded by a hard outer memebrane which protects the semi-permeable inside. This membrance is semi-permeable because it allows some substances to leave and some to enter in the particular semi-permeable membrance will let water to pass trough out but not salt or sugar.
