Dilution Is Not The Solution To Pollution

OUR JOB
- We have to be very responsible with the vast amount of water we are entrusted to take care of.
- We also have a large population that we need to provide clean, safe, drinkable water to.
- We should take this seriously and try to make our sewage system as clean as possible.
- This can come only through increased public awareness and proper lobbying of the government for change.
Effect on health
- Many diseases can be contracted from drinking contaminated water daily.
- Some examples would be malaria, poor blood circulation, skin lesions and much more.
- It damages our kidneys and our digestive system.
Economic Effect
- If you went to a foreign country expecting beautiful scenery of the ocean, and all you smell is the bad odor of human waste, you wouldn't want to come back.
- You would also discourage other people about visiting that country.
- Therefore, the dilution of our oceans can eventually affect the Canadian tourist industry.
- It is important to note that dilution is not occurring in our oceans. As a province, we also dilute Lake Ontario, which is a major tourist attraction.
Marine Life
- It lowers the oxygen level for marine animals, and sometimes it kills them.
- Our waste is not meant to be eaten, but the marine life doesn't know that. It is slowly killing them.
Effect on daily Life
Introduction
- The ocean isn't infinite, it only has a certain amount of volume. One day, if we continue to dump our waste into the ocean, the ocean will hold no benefit for us.
- Also, our waste is always floating around. Sometimes, it floats into the place where we collect our drinking water.
- In addition, fish live there too and they feed on our waste. If you eat fish, it is possible that you have eaten a small part of a stranger's waste.
- In my opinion, dilution is absolutely not the solution to pollution.
- Cleaning our water properly would be far more beneficial for everyone rather than dumping all of our waste into the ocean.
- Dilution was only acceptable when there was a significantly lower population, but even then it was harming us a lot.
