Latest Research
A recently published study shows that even eating moderate amounts of high-quality dark chocolate can cause acne. The study, published in the International Journal of Dermatology in December 2015, asked 25 acne-prone men to eat 25g (0.9 ounces) of high-quality dark chocolate every day for 4 weeks.
Risk Factors
Acne
Acne, medically known as Acne Vulgaris, is a skin disease that involves the oil glands at the base of hair follicles. It commonly occurs during puberty when the sebaceous (oil) glands come to life - the glands are stimulated by male hormones produced by the adrenal glands of both males and females.
Sources
Hormonal Changes: common in teenagers, women and girls, or people with certain medications.
Family History: If both parents had acne, you're likely to develop it, too.
Oily substances: May develop where skin comes in contact with greasy lotions.
Friction or pressure on your skin: it can be develop by tight clothing, hats or collars.
Stress: Stressed people are more likely to develop it, or making their skin problems worse.
