Zapotec

The pyramids were an architectural achievement by the Zapotec. The approximate date of origin for the pyramid was between 300 and 900 CE. This is evidence that this pyramid was constructed by the Zapotec because they began constructing a city located at Monte Alban which included pyramids, tombs, and much more. This city flourished during the time period stated above. Characteristics of the pyramid include its square-like structure which has been constructed out of stone and its angled sides. This pyramid could have been a place were spiritual practices were observed or could have served as a burial chamber for people of royal descent.
