Exoplanet Presentation
Kepler-10b
Thanks for Watching!
- The size and type of the planet: This is a rocky planet, and is 1.4 times the size of Earth.
- The orbital distance and period: This planet orbits once every 0.84 days, and the orbital distance is less than a twentieth of the distance from Mercury to the Sun.
- The method of discovery: The data was collected by a NASA spacecraft from May 2009 to early January 2010.
- The possibility of life on its surface: Since this exoplanet orbits once every 0.84 days, Kepler-10b is more than 20 times closer to its star than Mercury is to our sun and not in the habitable zone.
- Any other interesting details: Kepler-10b is currently the smallest planet ever discovered outside our solar system.

51 Pegasi b
In this presentation, I will be presenting 3 different exoplanets and some facts about them.
- The size and type of the planet: This exoplanet has half the mass of Jupiter, and is considered a "Hot Jupiter".
- The orbital distance and period: 51 Pegasi b orbits it host every 4 days, and its orbital distance is 50 lightyears away from earth.
- The method of discovery: This exoplanet was discovered on October 6, 1995, and was discovered by a spectrograph.
- The possibility of life on its surface: There is a good chance that there is no life on this planet because it is so close to its orbital star.
- Any other interesting details: This exoplanet was names Pegasi because it is approximately 50 light-years away in the constellation of Pegasus.
- The size and type of the planet: Scientists don't quite know yet what type of planet this is,, but the size of the planet is 2.4 times the size of Earth.
- The orbital distance and period: Kepler-22b has a yearly orbit of 289 days. The orbital distance is about 600 light-years away from Earth.
- The method of discovery: This exoplanet was discovered on Dec. 5, 2011 by NASA.
- The possibility of life on its surface: This planet has liquid water around its surface, and liquid water is essential for life on Earth.
- Any other interesting details: It is believed to be a promising spot to search for life. There could possibly be a chance that some form of life exists there.
