- Clubs like CBGBs in NYC provided grounds for the artists and their fans to meet and perform.
- The music and culture spread out of the cities of NYC and London to California, Australia, and other large markets in the US.
- As punk or "pop punk" artists like Green Day and Blink 182 became popular, their music was picked up, modified, commercialized and spread across the globe.
