Similarities: *Both Presidents went to Law schools, however Roosevelt didn't complete his years at Colombia Law School and instead jumped into politics.
*Both had good educations: Jefferson graduated from College of William and Mary and Roosevelt graduated from Harvard.
*Both men were governors for some time before becoming President.
*Interestingly, both men created a party; Jefferson the democratic party and Roosevelt helped found a third party (the Progressive Party).
Differences: *Jefferson was considered a dreamer (for he believed in freedom and thought people should be able to choose their own religion) and Roosevelt was more the doer (he was able to accomplish many things and make sure Jefferson's dream stayed alive and true).
*Jefferson went into law and politics whereas Roosevelt went into politics and the Navy (Military).
Why might these similarities and differences exist?
*Some differences probably exist because of the different times the presidents were living in. While Jefferson was president, America was still fairly new so that is why he was more the dreamer. However, when Roosevelt served his two terms, America had been here longer so it was a matter of keeping the dream alive and still focusing on it.
*The reason their personalities might be different is because of the way they were raised. I know that Roosevelt's father was very disciplined, which could affect Theodore and how he operates (very pushy to get things done and right, always in motion).
*The differences in how each act could be caused by what each had gotten involved in. Jefferson went straight to law and politics and Roosevelt went into the military and politics. The Military is known to make people more disciplined and determined which is where Theodore could have gotten so much determination. Thomas on the other hand went into politics where there isn't much determination, but a lot of devotion which is where he probably becomes so devoted to the people and the country.
*The similarities probably exist, because both men wanted to be the best they could be so they were very hard workers and were very well educated which is why they were so smart.
