THE GLASS CEILING
-during WWII women were granted the ability to join the army, but only as nurses and medical personel, they were not allowed to do any MOS (military occupational specialty) that involved any form of combat, which were limited to only men.
-Year: 2015, and women are still not allowed to have MOS's such as Infantry in the any branch of the military, despite some showing they are physically able to.
-July of 2015 the first 2 Female rangers--1st Lieutenant Kristen Griest, and Captain Shaye Haver-- to complete the Ranger school for the army, out of 96 soldiers that had gone to the school these two female soldiers are out of the eight that completed the course.
-The APFT, which is the Army Physical Fitness Test, it test a soldiers endurance, cardio-respiratory fitness, and physical strength. It requires soldiers to do 2 minutes of push-ups, 2 minutes of sit-ups followed by a 2 mile run. although the test requirements are the same for both men and women, men have to do an excess amount of repititions compared to women, and have a decreased time to finish their 2 mile run.

Mother hood sometimes takes the blames for there being a glass ceiling. Fear of women becoming distracted from their career path because of their need to stay home and care for the children.
Latina women only make 54% of what white men make and 90% of what Latino men make. American Indian and Alaska Native women earn 59% of what white men earn and 85% of what American Indian and Alaska Native men earn. African-American women earn 91% of what Black men earn, but only 64% of what white men earn. Asian-American women earn only 79% of what Asian-American men make, but 90% of what white men earn.

WOMENS UNEQUAL PAY BEFORE THE 1960's
Up untill the early 1960's, jobs were categorized in newspapers according to sex. If the postition was open for a male it would say "Hiring -Male. In some cases the ads ran identical jobs under male and female listings but with seperate pay scales. Between the 1950's and 1960's , women with full time jobs earned on average between 59-64 cents or every dollar teir male counterparts earned in the same job.

WHAT IS GENDER INEQUALITY
Gender inequalitiy is defined as unfair or unequal treatment of an indiviual solely based on their gender. It is usually an outcome of solially constructed gender roles placed in effect by society, and biological features such as brain structure, chrosomes, and the difference in hormones.
