The first section was described to be completely filled with shiny gold coins, and when I looked up the price of a solid gold coin in that time, it was worth $62.27 in US dollars. I estimated about 25,000 coins could fit into that section.
The second compartment was said to have "gold ingots" which Google defined as a term for a gold bar. I said about 12 could fit in there, each valuing about $41,390 for each bar.

We all read about the Count of Monte Cristo's riches and how many "francs" some of them were worth, but I don't think we all understand how much he actually inherited.
In the book, the chest is described as 2 feet wide and 3 feet long, and on the inside, it's sectioned into 3 parts. Each compartment was a foot by 2 feet big.
The third section was said to be half full of precious gems. Since each gem is small in size, I estimated about 7,500 gems to fit in there. (gem prices on next slide)
