OILS

OI

An oil is any neutral, nonpolar chemical substance that is a viscous liquid at ambient temperatures and is both hydrophobic and lipophilic.

The general definition of oil includes classes of chemical compounds that may be otherwise unrelated in structure, properties, and uses. Oils may be animal, vegetable, or petrochemical in origin.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN OIL

AND FAT

The terms oil and fats are often confused. Oil normally refers to a fat with short or unsaturated fatty acid chains that is liquid at room temperature, while fat may specifically refer to fats that are solids at room temperature.

SUGARS

EATINGS

HABITS

Is technically called sugars the carbohydrates that generally are sweet, as the various monosaccharides, disaccharides and oligosaccharides, although sometimes it used incorrectly to refer to all carbohydrates.

Food gives our bodies the energy we need to function. Food is also a part of traditions and culture. This can mean that eating has an emotional component as well. For many people, changing eating habits is very hard.

In the dictionary we can found the following definition: The eating habits is the way a person or group eats, considered in terms of what types of food are eaten, in what quantities, and when.

PROTEIN FUCTIONS

Antibody: Antibodies bind to specific foreign particles, such as viruses and bacteria, to help protect the body.

Enzyme: Enzymes carry out almost all of the thousands of chemical reactions that take place in cells. They also assist with the formation of new molecules by reading the genetic information stored in DNA.

Messenger: Messenger proteins, such as some types of hormones, transmit signals to coordinate biological processes between different cells, tissues, and organs.

Structural component: These proteins provide structure and support for cells. On a larger scale, they also allow the body to move.

Transport/storage: These proteins bind and carry atoms and small molecules within cells and throughout the body.

DIET

Dieting is the practice of eating food in a regulated and supervised fashion to decrease, maintain, or increase body weight. In other words, it is conscious control or restriction of the diet. Dieting is often used in combination with physical exercise to lose weight, commonly in those who are overweight or obese. Some people, however, follow a diet to gain weight (usually in the form of muscle). Diets can also be used to maintain a stable body weight

VEGETARIAN DIET

Vegetarianism is a way of eating which excludes food of animal origin. However, overall, the vegetarian diet not only provides food from the point of view, but also lifestyle . Thus , vegetarians not only reject animal foods , but any product or material from animals. Other reasons mentioned vegetarians to defend their choice , as well as the ethical, they are economic , or related hunger and religious beliefs.

types of vegetarian diets:

-Veganism: followed by vegans. Do not consume any animal foods or dairy derivatives, milk or honey.

-Lacto vegetarianism: only consume eggs or dairy respectively as animal foods.

-Raw food: a vegan diet can be considered as only consume raw and unprocessed. In this case, the diet is based on fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouted grains and legumes. cases in which it is included unpasteurized milk and raw meat and fish may exist.

-Fruitarian diet: based on fruits, nuts and seeds. It includes those fruits that are classified as vegetables, such as tomatoes or avocados. The remaining plants are excluded.

-Other vegetarian diets: there are people who call themselves vegetarians despite eating fish or seafood, which is a misconception, since by definition, the fish does not fall within the principles of vegetarianianism.

PROTEINS

What are proteins and what do they do

Proteins are large, complex molecules that play many critical roles in the body. They do most of the work in cells and are required for the structure, function, and regulation of the body’s tissues and organs.

Proteins are made up of hundreds or thousands of smaller units called amino acids, which are attached to one another in long chains. There are 20 different types of amino acids that can be combined to make a protein. The sequence of amino acids determines each protein’s unique 3-dimensional structure and its specific function.

FOOD PYRAMID

The food pyramid is a graph designed to simply indicate which foods are needed in the diet are, and how much to consume, to achieve a healthy and balanced diet. This pyramid includes all food groups in order to maintain good health.

levels of pyramid

-The first level corresponds to cereals, pasta, rice, flour, bread...

-The second level is made up of foods rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals. This is the level of fruis and vegetables .

-The third level is also divided into two : On the one hand we find the milk and dairy products (cheese , yogurt ... ) and on the other hand we find meat, fish, eggs , nuts and legumes. These are foods rich in protein but also essential minerals such as iron and calcium.

-The fourth level is the top of the pyramid , that means that it is food that must be consumed in moderation . Here are the fats, sweets , pastries , carbonated drinks and sugary .

MEDITERRANEAN DIET

The heart-healthy Mediterranean is a healthy eating plan based on typical foods and recipes of Mediterranean-style cooking.

Components of the

Mediterranean diet.

Eating primarily plant-based foods, such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes and nuts. Replacing butter with healthy fats, such as olive oil.

Using herbs and spices instead of salt to flavor foods.

Limiting red meat to no more than a few times a month.

Eating fish and poultry at least twice a week.

Drinking red wine in moderation .

VEGETABLES

It is called to be organic vegetable growing , lives and reproduces but does not move from one place to volunteer momentum.

The classification of plant foods differs from the botanical classification because it is based more on external appearance and organoleptic characteristics. Among the main types of plant foods it is commonly

considered to:

Vegetables: As the name implies, refers to the parts of the plants green.

NUTRIENS

Most fruits are naturally low in fat, sodium, and calories. None have cholesterol.

-Fruits are sources of many essential nutrients that are underconsumed, including potassium, dietary fiber, vitamin C, and folate (folic acid).

-Diets rich in potassium may help to maintain healthy blood pressure. Fruit sources of potassium include bananas, prunes and prune juice, dried peaches and apricots, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, and orange juice.

-Dietary fiber from fruits, as part of an overall healthy diet, helps reduce blood cholesterol levels and may lower risk of heart disease.

Vitamin C is important for growth and repair of all body tissues, helps heal cuts and wounds, and keeps teeth and gums healthy.

Folate (folic acid) helps the body form red blood cells.

MEAT

Meat is animal flesh that is eaten as food. Humans are omnivorous, and have hunted and killed animals for meat since prehistoric times. The advent of civilization allowed the domestication of animals such as chickens, sheep, pigs and cattle, and eventually their use in meat production on an industrial scale.

Meat is mainly composed of water, protein, and fat, and is usually eaten together with other food. It is edible raw, but is normally eaten after it has been cooked and seasoned or processed in a variety of ways. Unprocessed meat will spoil or rot within hours or days as a result of infection with and decomposition by bacteria and fungi.

FRUITS

Fleshy fruits are sweet or bittersweet as citrus and knobs. Nuts are those containing less than 50% water, they are as walnut seeds grains: are grains or seeds of grasses such as rice, wheat and corn.

Why is it important to eat fruit?

Eating fruit provides health benefits people who eat more fruits and vegetables as part of an overall healthy diet are likely to have a reduced risk of some chronic diseases. Fruits provide nutrients vital for health and maintenance of your body.

CARBOHYDRATES

FATS

Fat is one of the three main macronutrients. Fats, also known as triglycerides, are esters of three fatty acid chains and the alcohol glycerol.

Fat is an important foodstuff for many forms of life, and fats serve both structural and metabolic functions. They are necessary part of the diet of most heterotrophs (including humans). Some fatty acids that are set free by the digestion of fats are called essential because they cannot be synthesized in the body from simpler constituents.

CARBOHYDRATES

Carbohydrates are the sugars, starches and fibers found in fruits, grains, vegetables and milk products. Though often maligned in trendy diets, carbohydrates — one of the basic food groups — are important to a healthy life.

"Carbohydrates are macronutrients, meaning they are one of the three main ways the body obtains energy, or calories,"

They are called carbohydrates because, at the chemical level, they contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.

HYGIENE

Food safety is a scientific discipline describing handling, preparation, and storage of food in ways that prevent foodborne illness. This includes a number of routines that should be followed to avoid potentially severe health hazards.

In this way Food Safety often overlaps with Food Defense to prevent harm to consumers. Separate raw and cooked foods to prevent contaminating the cooked foods. Cook foods for the appropriate length of time and at the appropriate temperature to kill pathogens. Store food at the proper temperature. Do use safe water and raw materials. Before you start eating we must meet some hygiene habits before, during and after the meal. Before sitting at the table should go to the bathroom to do the needs and washing hands. After eating should go back to the bathroom to wash your hands and teeth.
