Rosa Parks
Rosa became famous because she refused to give up her seat to a white man on a bus. This brave act lead her to go to jail but also resulted in a 381 day bus boycott . In 1956 the law requiring segration on public buses was lifted.

- When Rosa was 2 her parents separated. Her mother took both her and her brother to Alabama to live with their Grandparents,who were once slaves.
- During Rosa's educational years she was homeschooled. When she was not homeschooled she attended an all African American school.
- Rosa had to abandon her education to take care of her sick Grandmother
- In 1932 she married Raymond Parks, a barber who helped her earn her highschool diploma

- On December 1955, Rosa had a 30 minuite trial.When she was found guilty ,she was fined ten dollars and the court cost of 4 dollars
- She won accolades of awards plus the NAACP's (National Association for the Advancement for Colored People) highest award.
- In 1965 -1988, Rosa worked for John Conyers, an African American congressman, as a receptionist and the office assistant. She also helped the homeless find housing.
- Rosa showed her support to Martin Luther King by returning to Montgomery, Alabama to participate in his Civil Rights marches.
- Along with her other awards and honors, in 1996 Rosa recived the Medal of Freedom award from Presdent Clinton.
