Schikaneder's Work
Immersed in thought (1890)
- In 1880, he decorated the royal box in the national theater with three panels of the theme of Bohemia's ruling families. Unfortunately, after a fire just a year later, the work was replaced.
- In the beginning of his career, he made little commission sending his drawings to local magazines.
- Later in his career picked up a little bit and he hosted exhibitions in Munich and Vienna and chose a theme of religious sect, which was praised by the critics.
- Schikaneder assisted to Frantisek Zenisek at the School of decorative arts in Prague, and later took over the decorative painting studio after him, enabling him to travel around Europe.
- Most of his paintings are eerie images, of often times women, who are suffering.
