Geography
Russia can be divided into 5 economic regions:
- the Great European Plain
- the Ural Mountains
- the West Siberian Plains
- the Central Siberian Plateau
- the East Siberian Uplands

- Russia has plains in the west of Urals, mountainous regions in the south and tundra and forests in Siberia.
- Across from the Caspian Sea are the countries of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgystan.

For hundreds of years, leaders of Russia, which back then was called the USSR, or the Soviet Union, ruled with complete authority. They brought the Soviet Union great power, but at a cost. Many people suffered hardships, but by the 1900s, the new leaders introduced reforms, which meant to make things better. Today, we will teach you all about the USSR.
