Agency Mission Statement

Community Housing Innovations, Inc. (CHI) provides the housing and human services that enable low- and moderate income families and individuals to achieve the greatest social and economic independence at the lowest cost to society.

How do we help our clients?

Who is the population being served?

CHI serves homesless individuals and families.

Case managers:

  • Meet with clients twice a week
  • Go over goal plans
  • Assist with housing needs
  • Assist with resource findings
  • Follow up with clients on their goals
  • Act as a liasion between resources if needed
  • Provide counseling serivces

CHI provides services and resources to help assist clients to achieve their goals.

CHI has several shelters available in Nassua County, Suffolk County, Westchester County and Dutches County.

Housing Specialist:

  • Help clients with apartment searching
  • Help clients with budgeting their money
  • Act as a liasion between client and landlord
  • Act as a liasion between client and Department of Social Services (DSS)
  • Provide advise and suggestions for housing options

Shelters are available to clients are seperated by specific populations of clients, such as:

  • Family Shelters
  • Men's Shelters
  • Women's Shelters

Housing Monitors:

  • Connect clients with case managers or assistance if assigned case manager is unavailable
  • Do perimeter and room checks to provide a clean and safe environment
  • Manage front desk and keep an eye out for any issues

If I were to change anything in the agency... What would it be?

1) I would allow for all resources to be equally available to all clients.

2) I would have more programs and agencies come in to run different programs and informational presentations.

My recommendations for this agency would be:

3) I would have more donations available to clients and children.

4) I would make sure that all clients are being empowered by their case managers and staff to achieve any goal they set.

5) I would have staff researching different resources for clients and meet weekly to go over how they can be effective and useful.
