The experience of higher education should give you valuable life and career skills beyond your actual degree grade.

Graduates earn more overall than those with just A-levels: hourly rate of approx £10.90/hr rather than £7.90/hr

Graduates earn more over their lifetime than

those without higher education qualifications.

Access to clubs / societies / opportunities that enhance and enrich your life and may take you to extraordinary places!

Why higher education?

Academically:

Graduates are likely to be promoted sooner, and progress further up the career ladder, than non-graduates.

A social life and opportunity to make friends which last a long time

• experience a higher level of study

• access a much broader range of subjects

• a high level of support

The context

The Problem

The Association of Graduate Recruiter (AGR) annual summer survey shows that leading UK employers are receiving an average of 85 applications per job.

1.09 million young people (aged 16 -24) who were NEET (not in education, employment or training) - Jan to Mar 2013

Many professions are only accessible having completed higher education - doctors, nurses, teachers, lawyers, dentists and chartered engineers

With so many people looking for work, you need to be as educated, skilled and experienced as possible to secure a good job and a good future.

The 2012 Skills and Employment Survey showed that more jobs than ever before require a graduate degree.
