We think that music affects plant growth, we consider they have feelings and they can perceive music.

Abstract

In our project we decided to test if it is possible that plants grow if they are exposed to music. We used four plants. The first three plants were exposed separately to different kinds of music ,Bruno Mars (pop), Kiss (rock) and live piano, the fourth plant was not exposed to any kind of music. We perform this daily for about two weeks. Our hypothesis was correct, plants exposed to music grew faster, the one without music grew, but its growth was slower.

Research

1-Sound is a wave, and more specifically, a pulse wave. it is difficult to believe that such (extremely small) fluctuations in air pressure could have any effect on a plant's growth.

2-Sound is a wave traveling through air and it may be possible that changes in air pressure may affect plant growth (thus even ambient noise may contribute to plant growth.)

3-There is no evidence to suggest that music has any effect on plant growth. Some people believe that it does in a mystical sense, but it has never been verified scientifically.

4-.Scientist , are of the opinion that plants are devoid of a nervous system, and thus are unable understand music, or respond to it.

Variables

We used three kinds of music:

Pop: Bruno Mars

Rock: Kiss

Live: Piano

We also observed one plant without music.

Materials

1-Four plants

2-Tape recorder

3-CD of Rock

4-CD of Pop

5-Ruler

6-Scissors

7-Sprinkler

Procedure

1- We bought the same kind of plants. We cut them, so they could be in the same conditions.

2- We labeled the plants "A" for the plant alone, "B" for the live piano, "C" for pop (Bruno Mars), and "D" for rock (Kiss).

3- We played different kind of music to each plant individually (so they can only be exposed to that kind) in a different room.

4- We did this for about one week and we record different observations.

Observation

Conclusion

We learned that the music helps plants grow faster than without it.To the one of Kiss it grow a lot of grass and at the very bottom it grow flowers. To the one of Bruno Mars it grow flowers at the firsts days. To the one of piano it grow flowers, but the half of the plant died.
