"The Legend of Apo Lakay and Apo Baket
Once there was a family who lived by the beach of Claveria. They were well off because of fishing. The couple were of old age and they had a young son whom they loved dearly. One day, the father came home from a bountiful fishing when he happen to an old man. The old man asked for food to spare, but the father sent him away. The old man said to the father that he will regret this. Lather that night the couple were cooking dinner when an old lady knocked on the door and asked for food to spare. The mother yelled at the old woman and sent to her. The old told the mother that she will regret this. By dinner time, the couple were looking for their son because he went missing. They got heart broken when they found him turned into stone. They went back home disheartend. The mother blamed the father for his greediness and selfishness. Then she saw her husband turn into stone. As the waves grew bigger, she too turned into stone.

Apo Lakay-Lakay and Apo Baket-Baket Festival
Day Two
The Apo Lakay-Lakay and Apo Baket-Baket Festival held in the province of Cagayan
in the city of Claveria.
The duration of
the festival
is two days.
It first starts
off a story.
Avegaile Zablan and Stephanie Espina
Pre-schoolers start off the event by the story telling of the old legend of Apo Lakay and Apo Baket.
And of course, elementary students wouldn't
lose to the
pre-schoolers.
They show off their
prowess through strong presentations - Balagtasan.
Break it down yowww!
As the first day of the festival ends, high school dancers compete for the grail!
Each group show off their skill and talent. May the best group win!
The day ends with a closing ceremony. The folks of Claveria get ready for the next day.
The second day starts with the large scale fish catching called 'Daklis'.
In the rough waves of the sea, people show their strength and speed through the boat racing competition.
After the long and tiring boat race, stomachs are filled with food with the Boodle fight.
After the closing ceremony of the last day of the festival, people walks to near the two rocks, Apo Lakay and Apo Baket to pray and offer food and flowers to them.
