This speech swayed the minds of the delegates. The resolution was adopted, and Henry’s speech went out to the rest of the nation. He was one of the first to argue that war with England was unavoidable. He proved to be correct, and before long the struggle with England had begun. This speech went on to become one of the most famous speeches in the English language, inspiring people around the world to this day.
The speech sought to disillusion any who still hoped for peace through submission to the rule of the crown. He wanted people to fight back against the tyranny of the British rule to gain their independence.
Henry was born in Hanover County, Virginia, on May 29, 1736.He protested against the rule of British, finding them tyrannic. He was a five term Governor of Virginia. He died on June 6, 1799 at Red Hill Plantation.

Henry held his speech at the Second Virginia Convention in Richmond on March 23, 1775. This speech is one of the best exponents of both the reason and the passion that gave birth to the Revolutionary War.

Henry held his speech at the Second Virginia Convention in Richmond on March 23, 1775, in what is now known as St. Johns Church.
