OCEANS

ANIMALS WHICH ADAPT IN OCEAN

The ocean can be a very difficult place to live. The animals living in the seas have to deal every moment with finding food, and protecting themselves from predators. There are many ways of hiding, defending, and feeding, and every different technique has advantages for different animals. Adaptations for Survival in the Sea explores some of the adaptations used by various sea creatures to survive.

An ocean is a body of saline water that composes much of a planet's hydrosphere. On Earth, an ocean is one of the major conventional divisions of the World Ocean, which occupies two-thirds of the planet's surface. These are, in descending order by area, the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern, and Arctic Oceans.

WHAT IS ADAPTATION ???

The process of adaptation is the ability of learning to thrive in your surroundings.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF ADAPTATIONS

1) Desert

2) Forest

3) Oceans

4) Polar Regions

FORESTS

A Forest is a large area of land covered with trees or other woody vegetation.[1] Hundreds of more precise definitions of forest are used throughout the world, incorporating factors such as tree density, tree height, land use, legal standing and ecological function.

ANIAMLS WHICH ADAPT IN FORESTS

Orangutan eyes are dark brown, an adaptation to help protect their eyes from sunlight. Darker eye colors have more pigmentation, than lighter colored eyes; absorbing sunlight before damaging UV light can penetrate to the back of the eyes.

DESERTS

A desert is a barren area of land where little precipitation occurs and consequently living conditions are hostile for plant and animal life. The lack of vegetation exposes the unprotected surface of the ground to the processes of denudation. About one third of the land surface of the world is arid or semi-arid.

ANIMALS WHICH ADAPT IN DESERTS

The animals that live in the desert usually have special adaptations that allow them tosurvive the extreme temperatures and conditions that are present in a desert. A good example of an animal with special adaptations is the camel. A camel can drink very large amounts of water in one day or survive for a relatively long time without drinking any water

POLAR REGIONS

The polar regions of Earth, also known as Earth's frigid zones, are the regions of Earth surrounding its geographical poles (the North and South Poles). These regions are dominated by Earth's polar ice caps, the northern resting on the Arctic Ocean and the southern on the continent of Antarctica.

ANIMALS WHICH ADAPT IN POLAR REGIONS

Life in the planet’s polar regions can be incredibly difficult. Bitterly cold winds whip across the landscape. Winter temperatures can reach deep into the negatives, and the winter night can last for months.

Polar bears - They have a thick layer of body fat and a water-repellant coat that insulates them from the cold air and water. Considered talented swimmers, they can sustain a pace of six miles per hour by paddling with their front paws and holding their hind legs flat like a rudder.
