Technique
Composition
Style follows his master Ethymides but movement and anatomy is more fluid and attitudes more varied.
Musculature and drapery still generalised and show common features.
Lines of drapery follow figures form and action. Zigzags are less regular and wavy lines are common.
Uses forshortening e.g maenads foot, and overlapping to show sense of space.
Introduces mood. increases dramatic quality. E.g satures are aroused. Maenads are estatic.
Anatomy, movement, gesture and
expression all convey to portray
the mood
Reverse

Scene runs right around the vase depicting the god with his usual companions- Maenads and Satyrs
Dionysus is dressed in a chiton and himation with his leopards skin thrown over his back. He holds a metal, empty kantheros in his hand.
Diluted glaze is used for the kantheros and animal skin.
in his left hand he holds a grape vine. added purple colour for leaves and incision for the grapes outlines.
One either side of D are 2 Maenads that carry
THYRSOS (fennel stalk) crowned with ivy leaves.
they use the stalks to fend off satyrs, one of which
comes out from under the two handles.
Maenad on D's left wears her hair in a net and uses
her thyrsos to but jab. Also taken hold of S arm.
Maenad on D's left looks away fron satyr, he graps
at her thyrsos but she has a snake which is hissing
at him. This maenad has a draped dear skin over her chiton.
