Strengths
- Target has a very diverse selection of goods at their stores. They have all the way from Pet Supplies to groceries and that makes them appeal to almost any person
- Target also has a the 1# popular coffee shop, Starbucks, in their stores where as their competitors do not so that could put them a level above their threats since people might choose target over Walmart so they could get Starbucks while they are shopping.
continued...
- Target's sales increased by 1.6% in 2015 while Walmart's only increased by 1% making Target ahead of its biggest competition in growth. According to (http://investors.target.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=65828&p=irol-homeprofile).
Threats
- Target's biggest competition in the market is Walmart. There are other big retailers in the market like TJ MAXX, Ross, and Khols that pose a threat to Target by taking their customers.
- If the economy crashes Target would be greatly affected because most of the stuff in their stores is not a need or essential and just goods people want or desire. therefore customers wont want to spend their stuff on non necessities when they are low on money.
Opportunities
- Target does not have a very extensive sports selection and since sports and athletics are getting more popular expanding their sports section might be a good idea to increase income.
- They could get good publicity by partnering with UNICEF to make a difference in children's lives. According to https://corporate.target.com/article/tag/245/partnerships
Weakness
- One of target's biggest weakness is how the public views them. They have a image of being 'cheap' probably since they typically don't carry high end clothing or products which is actually another weakness of theirs.
- Target's stock price actually has gone down by 0.06%. According to https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8&safe=active&ssui=on#q=managment%20of%20target&safe=active&ssui=on
