- Ellsworth Milton Statler was born on October 26, 1863 in Pennsylvania
- He was a young boy born in poverty.
- After he dropped out of school at the age of 13, he began exploring the hotel industry
- With only two years of experience as a bellboy, he became the head bellman a famous hotel in West Virginia.
- The Statler Hotels were one of America's earliest chains of hotel catering for traveling businessmen and tourists
