In 1908, Henry Ford decided he would create an inexpensive automobile. The car he decided to do this with was the Model T. Back then, automobiles were only for the wealthy, so when Henry Ford first came out with this affordable car, the sales soon shot up instantly. Soon, almost everyone was driving this car. Also, Henry Ford only made his workers work for eight hours and pad them five dollars an hour. Clearly, Henry Ford was a very understanding and caring man.
Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876. This invention made a serious impact on many people all over the world. The telephone helped people be able to communicate with others from a distance, or without standing right next to the person. The telephone was one of the greatest inventions ever, and was produced during the Gilded Age, which was a time economical growth throughout the country.

In 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright were the first to build and fly an airplane. The airplane is now a big part of daily life today. This invention helps people get to far away places quickly, or quicker than cars, trains, etc. This improved the Gilded Age, and helped people in many ways.

Jan Matzeliger invented the "lasting machine"
The light bulb was invented in 1879 by Thomas Edison. Along with many other inventions Edison created, such as, the phonograph and camera, the light bulb is one of the many inventions we would always take for granted. This invention gave people light, so at night there house was not pitch black, and during the day they did not have to use daylight through the windows. But, this invention also made it so factories were able to make there workers work longer hours because there would be light.
In 1883, Jan Matzeliger invented a machine called the "lasting machine". This machine made it easier to construct shoes. The machine stitched the top of the shoe to the sole. The invention made it easier and faster, during the Gilded Age, to make shoes. This invention is known as the greatest for New England.
