Seychelles Scops Owl

Scops Owls nest in Upland forests in hollows like many owls and eat spiders, insects, and possibly frogs and lizards. Male scops owls mate by luring females to a nest site and sometimes with aerial displays, or offerings of food. Owls as a whole are at the top of the food chain and have few natural predators other than larger owls.

Seychelles Climate

Seychelles' 115 islands have an annual average temperature of 84 F. However, trade winds blow in from May to September. During this time the islands are cooler and drier and the beaches calmer. When the winds aren't blowing, There are a lot of monsoon rains from December to February.

Seychelles Kestrel

Seychelles Swiftlet

Kestrels live in nests on cliffs in buildings and sometimes in coconut palms and trees and are the only resident small falcon in Seychelles. They're seen in woodlands, cliffs, and coconut farms. Kestrels eat geckos, skinks, small birds, and insects. The kestrels are preyed on by Owls. Kestrels, like many birds, use aerial displays to attract mates.

Swiftlets nest in large groups in caves with many small, cup-shaped nests made of plants and the birds' own spit.

They are seen in forests, wetlands, & gardens but have also been seen on farms and in small urban areas. They are insect eating birds.

When mating, the males preform aerial showcases to attract a mate. The two birds then spend about a month

building a nest and a little over a week after to lay an egg.
