The Black Death. A mysterious yet terrifying disease. It has struck millions of people and limited information is known about it. What arrived by sea in 1347 at had already taken the lives of most of the sailors on board. The side effects are unbearable and no one knows how the disease is spread. Doctors, physicians and common citizens have tried to find cures, but nothing has seemed to work. The black plague and is affecting more then just the health of people, but also jobs, animals, and everyday lives. In short, the plague has sent Europe into a frenzy.
Although the boats carrying the plague were almost immediately sent away from the land, it was too late. The disease spread and is still affecting many europeans today. Its most obvious side effect was what gave it its name; black boils. They are filled with blood and pus and are painful. Other side effects ranged from high fevers, to chills, to vomiting, to multiple sores and pains. Finally, the Black Plague usually leads to death. The disease lasts a different amount of time for each person to suffer it. Sometimes they could go to bed healthy and wake up dead, or it could last much longer. The Black Death is a proper name for this unforgiving disease. It has already struck so many and it has to be stopped now.
There are scientists, doctors, and priests, yet none of them could find a sufficient cure for this disease. Many things have been tried, and none of them seem to stick. Some have gone to the extremes and even used bloodletting ad boil-lancing. These strategies are unsanitary and although can sometimes help, can even infect the patient more. Some physicians have tried other strategies such as burning herbs. Lastly, other spiritual measures are being taken such as bathing in rosewater or vinegar. Although so many things have been tried, nothing has been shown to be a proven success. People live by different solutions, yet some believe there is no treatment at all.
The Black Death has lead to many chaotic scenes in Europe. Shopkeepers are closing their stores to try and save themselves from catching the disease. People have even fled from the countryside, hoping that less people will lower their chances of being infected. However, this hasn't worked for many reasons. The main reason is that not only humans are susceptible, but also other animals. So many sheep have died from this illness that there is a wool shortage! Farm animals dying, combined with shops shutting down and many other factors are hurting the economy. It is sad to note that even some infected loved ones are being left to (see A2)
die because the family members are scared they will also contract the disease. Something has to be done, or things will just get worse.
What has society done to deserve this? Is this a punishment from God? There is no explanation for it and God may be punishing people for their sins. Or maybe, it is simply an act of nature, or maybe human's somehow caused this deadly disease. The plague continues to disappear and reappear, but there has been just as much chaos each time.

The church gives society a uniform way to live life. Everyone knows that if they do not carry out their civic duties, they will not be sent to heaven. It doesn't matter what social class they are from, because everybody has different civic duties. Also, peasants work for free on church land because of the importance of it in society. Citizens pay taxes and follow the laws of the Roman Catholic church. It keeps society in order and the society relies on it.
William I divided England up into different land areas so he could govern when he had to go away on business. Instead of ruling these lands, he gave much of the power to his favored nobles. These nobles would provide William with soldiers when needed, and would take care of things like taxes. These nobles had the most power when William was not present and were known as the tenants-in-chief. This system is known as the feudal system.
A person's daily life depends on that person's social class. If you are or are related to a noble, one usually livedsin a castle or manor and has a government or higg ranking duty. The middle class lives in a manor or village and carries on jobs such as working in shops. Women of all classes often oversee the household and carry out house chores. Peasants usually work on farms and do physical labor.
