Knights vs. Samurai Who Would Win?
A Knights Duties
Code of Honor
- interesting, who would win if two of history's most powerful warriors battled each other?
- It is like asking who are better soldiers, the navy seals or the ski troops
- We need to know the plot, where will the battle be fought at?
- what type of knight would it be? A mail clad Norman with sword and kite shield from the year 1066 perhaps or perhaps a Teutonic knight of the 1400 in a head-to-toe suit of articulated Gothic plate-armor and sword
- then what might the samurai be wearing? Muromachi armor and armed with a tachi blade? Or maybe the later close fitting do-maru armor from the Kamakura period and will he use the more familiar katana? Will he also be allowed to use wakizashi and the katana together?
- Europeans designed their armor to withstand swords
- Japanese designed their swords to defeat armor
- It is too hard to say who would win, so many possibles and variables
Knight's Weapons
- the knights called their code of honor chivalry
- chivalry requires knights to be loyal, brave, humble, and modest at the same time
- knights were also expected to be kind and generous to people, especially women
- the samurai called their code of honor Bushido meaning "the way of the warrior"
- men & women from samurai families were expected to follow it
- Japanese samurai were expected to lead disciplined lives which was believed to make them better warriors
Knight's Armor
- The duties of a medieval knight was to learn to fight and serve their Lord according to the Code
- A knight's fighting practice is important.
- Knights were expected to guard the castle and go to war
- knights practiced their fighting skills by participating in tournaments.
- knights also had to learn to be not only brave and fearless but cultured, loyal, as well as generous.
- Knights had to attend ceremonies where they would take oaths, promising to carry out these duties

A knight's weapons is one of the most important points of Medieval history, The Middle Ages is most of Battles and Crusades.

- medieval knights bore a variety of weapons and defensive garments, they were also trained to use almost every weapon available in the middle ages
- early knights bore chain mail armor and tunics bearing their symbol
- by 14th Century chain armor evolved to full plate armor that protected their arms, knees, legs, feet, and chest
- over many generations of war. many daimyos showed fearsome dedication to their warrior lifestyles
- the armor of the samurai represents more than just war and protection; it is spirit of the warrior in the traditional Japanese culture
- armor was passed down from generation to generation or they were given as a gift from master craftsmen who have learning the art of armor design
- their armor was unsurpassed in beauty and were the pride and joy of the samurai

The life of samurai and knights were very similar. They were both the warriors of their time. These ancient warriors though, have never seen each other.Similarities include:
- People of noble birth could become Samurai and knight respectively
- They were trained to use all weapons both on foot and horse back
- You had to learn how to play chess, in japan it was called Shogi
- Both started training at early age, Samurai = 5 and Knights = 7
- They trained by several stage each lasting at least 5 years...
- If they lived today, they would excel our effort by a long shot
- Finally it all comes down with their skill with a sword
