The land near the coast of Rome was very fertile. The temperature was great too. These helped create great conditions for farming. Rome was also near the Tiber River, which created a good trade route. Through trading, the Romans learned a lot about other cultures. Rome was built on 7 low hills. These hills helped the Romans when the Tiber River flooded.

Rome is located at 41.89 degrees N, 12.48 degrees E. It is in Europe. Rome is on the Italian Peninsula. It is bordered by Ostia nd the Mediterranean Sea. Rome was located about 15 miles from the Tiber River.

Rome is in the Mediterranean Region. Julius Ceaser divided rome into 14 regions. They are Porta Capena, Caelimontium, Isis et Serapis, Templum Pacis, Esquiliae, Alta Semita, Via Lata, Forum Romanum, Circus Flaminius, Palatium, Circus Maximus, Piscina Publica, Aventinus, and Transtiberim.

Rich Romans had kitchens in which food was cooked by slaves. They ate fish, birds, olive oil with herbs, dates, and pork. The poor ate foods from the town and cooked on public stoves. They ate wheat, barley, bread, olives, and meat scraps.

Children in wealthy families went to school. Some greek slaves served as tutors. The children played with dolls, marbles, model chariots, and animals.

The climate in Rome was warm. The Roman men wore togas and women wore two layers of tunics.

The Romans built concrete paved roads.

The people used aqueducts to bring water to the public bathing areas, the public fountains, and the rich peoples' homes. Rome was near the Tiber River, which helped with getting water.
