- Movie trailers are a great medium for film makers to include rhetoric in to try and persuade the audience to go see the movie.
- Filmmakers have a unique medium in film as they are visually able to portray some of the modes of persuasion and rhetorical devices as opposed to it being written or spoken

What they include
- "The trailer often features the most exciting, funny, or dramatic moments of the film to win the audience's interest
- Trailers often include music, quick cut shots, and voice-over narration
- Trailers generally follow a "three-act structure"
- The first act informs the audience of the premise of the story
- The second act continues the story and ends with a climax
- The third act ends with a signature song and/ or a montage of quick cut clips of climactic points in the film.
- Producers of movie trailers always have an audience in mind"
Where does Rhetoric come into play?
What are they?
- Almost all trailers appeals to the audiences Pathos by appealing to their emotions
- This can be through excitement, happiness, sadness, fear, nostalgia, etc.
- A trailer can do this using tone, imagery, diction, music, and/or rhetorical devices
- Trailers can also appeal to Ethos by including the name of well known directors and actors in the movie to create credibility
- Trailers can also appeal to Logos by listing the previous awards of the directors and actors to logically persuade the audience
- Movie trailers are essentially advertisements created for a film to persuade an audience to go see the film
- Trailers are excellent marketing tools for the audience as they are generally short, exciting and go over the plot of the movie
- Trailers use various rhetorical devices as well as the three means of persuasion (think Aristotle) in order to entice the audience and get them to be invested in the movie, the plot, and the characters
