Jackie Robinson: Breaking the Color Barrier

Early in Life

Jackie played with the Kansas City Monarchs.

The Kansas City Monarchs was a negro league.

Branch Ricky then approached Jackie about joining the Montreal Royals.

Jackie Robinson had four siblings and grew up in Cairo, Georgia.

Jackie played baseball, football, track and basketball in middle school and high school.

His father went missing when he was young.

Jackie loved to play sports and wanted to play them in college.

He was the youngest out of all the children.

Jackie then signed a contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Jackie was the first African American to play Major League Baseball.

Jackie won one World Series with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Jackie stunned people with his athletic ability, many people did not want him in the league though.

After two years he was promoted Second Lieutenant.

Jackie never fought in a war.

Jackie went to a Junior college for one year.

He then got a scholarship to UCLA.

Jackie was the first person to ever win a letter in all four sports and UCLA.

Jackie had to leave college due to finacal issues.
