What is kpop?

Kpop, or Korean Pop, is a music genre

originating from South Korea. The genre includes different idols and groups with varying themes of music and attire, different types of music, heavy choreography, and attractive members with amazing voices.

The Kpop industry has three major companies known as the "Triple Alliance". These three companies are known as SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment.

To this day, Kpop is still growing as a genre and new groups and idols are always being discovered. About 60 new kpop groups and idols are discovered and made every year. The international popularity is still growing as well as these fresh and new idols debut. New groups that debuted this year would be NCT-U and ASTRO.

Where did kpop start?

Kpop sub-genres

With every genre sub-genre. Kpop's sub-genres include; traditional ballad, boyband hysteria, cute Asian bubblegum pop, rap/R&B, dubstep, and dance pop. For example, BTS has a more dance pop in their songs along with hip hop as well.

Kpop started way back in the Cold War while American troops were there to protect South Korea from the North. This made the spread of pop music easier for the Americans. Because of this, South Korea soon took influence of this and decided to make their own music from this influence.

What is the significance of Kpop?

Due to the rapid growth of Kpop, it was able to bring South Korea, once a poor country, out of poverty in a matter of a couple of years. This is the reason as to why Kpop became a primary source for their economy.

Secondly; I just adore the caring, cute, dorky, and hilarious members of these kpop groups :3

conclusion/thoughts?

Two things; Firstly, Kpop has affected many teens all around the world. Kpop is also still growing, meaning t has more in store for us who show interest in this. For international fans, its obviously difficult for us to see the idols we love or understand them since they're Korean, but we all still love them. Even if we don't understand what they sing, we can hear the emotion in the way they sing. It could express the happiness, love, and even devastation. This is the beauty that I find in kpop.
