A. Thor, and other Asgardians consider themselves the gods that are destined to protect the realms. This compares to the early Gnostics who considered themselves as part of an elite group. Thor embraces the task to protect earth to fulfill their duty like the Gnostics embrace Christianity as a platform for ideas.
B. This could be a combination of the two, as it is a group effort made by the Asguardians to protect earth with Thor at the head of the group, being the leader.
Comparing to salvation history:
Jesus's birth was into a stable with animals where as Thor was born into a royal environment with fellow gods. Thor commits miracles and is "reborn" when he is worthy of picking up the hammer, similarly to when Jesus commits impossible miracles and is reborn through baptism. Jesus is tempted by the devil, a fallen angel, and Thor struggles as he fights his brother, a fallen God.
a. Are their super powers inherent or did they receive them later on in life? Does everybody have superpowers or only some?
The people of Asagard are born with powers, inherent from birth, but Thor was
even more powerful, being of royal decent. He is worthy of the hammer which gives him
great power.
b. Do the superheroes embrace their identity or do they reject it?
Most people embrace their powers, living openly in their community.
c. Is redemption achieved through human and/or divine efforts?
As they are born Devine, they can achieve redemption, as not everybody is worthy of the hammer.
