Mae Tuck
- Mae is protective of her family, and Winnie.
-Mae is easygoing about the chaos of everyday life.
-Mae is a sensible person who can make good decisions.
Mae is sensible!
"Mae sat there frowning, a great potato of a woman with a round, sensible face, and calm brown eyes."
-Pge 10
Though my quote talks about Mae lookng sensible, there are several other occasions in this book when Mae makes good, sensible decisions, thus making her sensible. Such as when she insists that Winnie wear her hat, so that she doesn't get burned too badly.
Mae is easygoing!
"Never mind," said Mae. "You're likely out of practice. Tomorrow, maybe."
-Page 89
You can tell Mae is easygoing because of her rather unorganized house and by the fact that she doesn't mind that Winnie and Miles didn't catch any fish.
Mae is protective!
"Her strong arms swung the shotgun round her head, like a wheel. The man in the yellow suit jerked away, but it was too late. With a dull cracking sound, the stock of the shotgun smashed into the back of his skull."
-Page 100
Mae whacks the man in the yellow suit in the back of his head with the shotgun, which eventually kills him, because he was going to take Winnie, and because Mae feels kind of like a mother, or an aunt to her.
A character in a book can be any object, person, or animal. Characters in books have characteristics or traits than define who they are. A couple are dauntless, adventurous, and humorous.
