Catapults and Trebuchets

Trebuchets have weights to counterbalance and drop to throw while catapults use elastic or arm bending to fire.

Different types of catapults

Projectile in motion

Trebuchet- wood, counterweight, for siege and artillery

any object which, once projected, continues its motion by its own inertia and is influenced only by the downward force of gravity

Self-Evaluation

Kyle- I learned how to make a trebuchet and how to set a sling and how they work. I found the launch the hardest part. My strengths would be with logic and basic ideas of physics and math and my weaknesses are working with powertools. The only connections I can think of for the trebuchet is medievel times but physics is in everything.

Sam- I learned more about carpentry and creating objects. The most difficult thing was tweaking the launch, we always over shot or under shot. My strengths were my knowledge of tools and my creative building style. My weakness was my impatience, I always wanted it to work faster. I think that I learned a great deal about trial and error. I figured out how to solve problems fast and get things done, and I connected this to how much people in medieval times must have had to work.

Video Launch

Kyle- We worked hard and diligently to get the project done and to do it right. I think overall we did very well and put a good amount of effort into the project.
