Relative pronouns are used to link a relative clause to another part of a sentence and has the job of introducing the relative clause. We use the term “relative” pronoun because it “relates” to the word it is modifying.

We use Who to refer to

people

The ship which I'd like to buy.

Iniesta was the player

who scored the second

goal.

We use Which to refer to objects and things in general

Mark is the boy who broke

the window

This is a song which makes people shout and jump.

We use where to refer to places

Who, Which, Where, When, whose and that.

Getafe is the town where I live.

We use whose

to express possession.

This is the Spanish author whose books have been

translated into more than 50 languages.

We use when to refer to times

We use That instead of who or which.

That was the day when they first met.

This is a class that I love teaching.
