He was named Shamdeo and moved to the town of Narayanpur in May 1972 and attempted to be taught the local customs, before being admitted to Mother Theresa’s home for the Dying and Destitute based in Lucknow in 1978 where he was then treated for and renamed Pascal before being visited by author Bruce Chatwin that same year.
As far as language is concerned, he never talked however he did end up learning some limited sign language. He also was progressively taught (weaned) off eating raw meat. He died in February of the year 1985 at the assumed age of around 17 years old.
As far as psychological development, he was behaving more as a wolf, with no speech or understanding of language. Also, had a craving for blood, enjoyed darkness and chicken hunting. Found companionship and family in wolf cubs.
Shamdeo was found in India in the forest of Musafirkhana, about 30 km from Sultanpur. He was roughly age 4 however this is not certain. It it unknown how long he was isolated for or how much human contact he had during his time in the forest.
