Forces That Act On A Bridge

Compression: Weight of the cars and natural forces push down on the bridge

Tension: the weight on each side of the bridge causes tension to act on the bridge

When And Where

- Located in Sydney NSW, Austaralia, Bradfeild hwy

- It's construction started on July 28, 1923 and it's grand opening was March 19, 1938

- The whole thing is made of steel

- It is 3770 feet (1149 m) long

Static And Dynamic loads

- The bridge weighs 52800 tones including the weight of the steel work and arch which is a dead static load

- There are usually around 150 000 cars go on the bridge . This is the dynamic load the bridge carries daily.
