Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences
Second grade Multiplication
Verbal/Linguistic Learner
For a verbal/linguistic learner to learner they like to use language to express themselves and to understand others. Therefore, for a verbal linguistic learner to learn multiplication I would have them speak out loud what they are doing and how they are doing it and also have them repeat after me when I am explaining how to do it.
Musical Learner
- A Musical Learner is a learner who uses beats or ryms to help them learn for example a musical learner like to listen to music in the background of homework or studying.
- To teach musical learners multiplication I would use low music in the background so they can hear the music and associate that music with the problem
Logical/Mathematical
- Specifically a Logical/Mathematical person uses numbers to under stand topics
- For a Logical/Mathematical person I would tech it to them and then let them on their way because they would enjoy it and I would know they would get their work done
Spatial Learner
- A Spacial learner is someone who uses art to harness information
- For teaching a Spacial Learner I would use pictures to show how multiplication. I would also let them use a multiplication table because of it's abstract appearance
- Also using websites like prezi because they are very abstract and easy to pay attention to
Bodily Kinesthetic
- A bodily kinisthenic learner uses their body to help them learn
- if i was to teach a bodily kinesthenic person multiplication I would make the doing activity's like doing as many jumping jacks as they can in 15 seconds and multiplying that to their friends
Intrapersonal Intelligence
- An intrapersonal learner is a person who like working by them selves
- To teach an intrapersanal learner i would have them do problems on their own to make sure that they understand them.
Interpersonal Learner
Naturalist learner
- Naturalist learners like to learn through nature and from being outside
- To teach a naturalist learner how to do multiplication I would bring the class outside and have them multiply the how many dots are on the back of two ladybugs
- Interpersonal learners like to work with people to do tasks or problems
- To teach an interpersonal learner I would have the volunteer t help others with multiplication and work work the others to help explain it better
